435. Every licensed inspector shall be entitled to demand and
receive for his services, two cents for each hide inspected by him,
payable by the party who shall employ him.

436. Each licensed inspector shall report annually to the
register of the city, the number of sides and quantities of the
leather which he shall have inspected during the year imme-
diately preceding such report, with the amount of fees received
by him for the same period.

4^7. Any person who shall counterfeit or fraudulently alter
any one of the marks, stamps, brands or impressions of any such
inspection, on any side or sides of leather so inspected, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and be punishable by fine not
exceeding one hundred dollars, or by confinement in the jail of
Baltimore city not less than three nor more than six calendar
months, at the discretion of the court.

438. No license shall authorize any inspector of leather to act
as such without the limits of the city.

489. Any person npt having a license who shall act as inspector
,of leather, or who having a license shall act as such inspector
without the limits of the city, shall forfeit and pay to the sheriff
of the city the sum of three hundred dollars; said penalty to be
imposed as a fine by the Criminal Court on presentment or
indictment by the grand jury and conviction in due course of
law; and one-third of the penalty shall be paid by the sheriff to
the informer, and the residue shall be accounted for to the
treasury as other fines; but nothing herein contained shall be
construed to forbid the manufacturer or actual bona fide owner
of any side or sides of leather from marking or stamping
thereon, or on the package containing the yame, the quantity or
quality thereof.

LIME.

440. Any free white citizen of the State of Maryland, on
application to the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas in Balti-
more city and paying said clerk the sum of one hundred and
fifty dollars, shall be entitled to receive a license to act as
inspector of lime for the term of one year from the date thereof.

441. The person applying for such license shall, at the time of
receiving the same, take and subscribe before the said clerk an
