and the judges of election in said county shall return the result
of the election in the same manner and on the usual day for
making election returns.

160. The persons so elected, and their successors, are hereby
declared to be a body politic and corporate, by the name and
style of the School Commissioners of Baltimore county, and by
that name shall have perpetual succession, and shall be capable
to sue and be sued, and to have and use a common seal, and the
same at their pleasure to alter or break, and to exercise all the
powers and privileges hereby granted to or vested in them.

161. The persons so elected shall assemble on the third Wed-
nesday of November, after such election, for the purpose of
organization, and shall then, or at some subsequent meeting held
by special adjournment, proceed to the election of a president,
who shall be elected by the votes of a majority of the whole
board, and who shall hold his office for the term of two years, or
until his successor shall be elected.

162. If the office of president shall become vacant either by
death, resignation or from any other cause, it shall be the duty
of the board to fill the same at the earliest practicable day by a
new election.

163. If any vacancy shall occur in the board of school com-
missioners before the expiration of the time for which they were
elected, it shall be the duty of the board to fill the same as
soon as convenient by the election of some suitable person, a re-
sident of the district in which such vacancy shall occur.

164. A majority of said board shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business.

165. All the property, estate and effects hitherto vested in any
person or persons for the benefit of public schools in said county
.shall be vested in the said school commissioners,

166. They shall have the exclusive right to receive all moneys,
from whatever source arising, dedicated by law to the use and.
benefit of the public schools in said county, to be by them dis-
bursed and employed for the support of public education in said
county.
