At a session of the General Assembly of Maryland, begun and
held at the City of Annapolis on the first Wednesday in January being the
fourth day of said month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty and ended on the tenth day of March in the same year.
His Excellency THOMAS H. HICKS, Esquire, Governor:
Among others the following Law was enacted, to wit:
No. 1.—An Act adopting the Code reported under the Seventeenth
Section of the Third Article of the Constitution.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the two volumes
of Revised Laws reported by Otho Scott and Hiram McCullough, that is to say
the first volume containing the Public General Laws and the second volume
containing the Public Local Law be and the same are hereby adopted in lieu
of and as a substitute for all the Public General Laws, and the Public Local
Laws heretofore passed by the Legislature of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the savings and reservations and rules of
interpretation contained in the first Article of the Public General Laws, be and
they are hereby made a part of the Code.
SEC. 8, And be it enacted, That the copy of the Code endorsed "Secretary of
the Senate" and the copy thereof endorsed "Clerk of the House of Delegates "
shall each be deposited with the Clerk of the Court of Appeals to be by him
safely kept among the Records of the Laws except where he may be directed by
the General Assembly, to deliver one of the copies for the purpose of being
reprinted.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from the day of
passage.
