Mr. Marshall presented the petition of Mary Ward and
Ann Winchester, praying to be placed on the pension rolls
of this State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Montague submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Mon-
tague would have voted for the Baltimore county road bill had
he been present.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Offutt submitted the following order :
Ordered, That Mr. Riggs have leave of absence until
Tuesday next.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Herbert submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Dutrow have leave of absence from
Saturday until Monday evening.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Clarke submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Jones
was detained from his seat in this House on Monday, Tues-
day and Wednesday of this week by professional engage-
ments at the Howard county court.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Worthington submitted the following order :

Ordered, That H. S. Davis have leave of absence from
this evening until Friday next.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Bowlus,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means
to introduce a bill to endow the following literary and chari-
table institutions in Frederick county, and in the following
reasonable sums of money:

To Slabtown Female Institute, $5,000.

To Slabtown Phi Beta Gamma Association of Pyrotechnic
Evolutions, $2,500.

To the Emmittsburg Scientific Art Association of Muscical
Gyrations, $3,000.

To Middletown Collegiate Institute, $12,000, annually, for
five years.

To the Middletown "Alpha Delta Mu" Association for
the toxological development of the intellectual ascendency of
man, $15,000, annually, forever.
