On motion of Mr. Richards,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill supplementary to an Act entitled on Act to
incorporate the Elkton am! Delaware Junction Rail Road
Company, passed March 7th, 1867, chapter 146.

On motion of Mr. Mitchell,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to
introduce a hill to tax dogs in Charles county.

Mr. Latrobe, acting Chairman of the Committee on Ways
and Means, reported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to aid in the- construction of works
of internal improvement in St. Mary's, Charles and Calvert
counties.

Which was read a first time.
Also, reported favorably

The bill entitled an Act to repeal, amend and re-enact
section 97 of Article 81, of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled "Revenues and Taxes," as amended and re-enacted
by the Act of 1864, chapter 391, so as to provide for the col-
lection of all taxes or assessments levied on the property,
capital stock or effects of any corporation or association of
the State of Maryland, or other corporation or association
doing business in said State at its place of business.

Which was read a first time.
Also, reported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1867, chapter
366, entitled an Act making appropriations for the support
of the government, for the year ending on the first day of
January. 1869, and to substitute the following in lieu
thereof as a substitute for the Appropriation Bill which had
been recommitted to said committee on the 5th instant.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Chapman submitted the following amendment:

Line 12, after the word "copies," insert the word each.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Chapman submitted the following amendment :

Line 18, amend by adding after the word "ten," the follow-
ing : and four hundred and seventy dollars to George Earle,
