816 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 13,

Section 3, line 3, after the word "the" insert the words
Board of, and strike out the word "Superintendent," and
insert the words School Commissioners.

Section 4, line 5, strike out "Superintendent" and insert
"Examiner ;" line 10, strike out "Superintendent" and in-
sert "Examiner ;" line 11, after "elicit" add "be shall con-
duct the school examinations and perform such other duties
as the Board of County School Commissioners may direct."

Which were severally read and adopted.

Mr. Keech submitted the following amendment :

Section 4, line 11, strike out the word "elicit" and insert
the word "suggest."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendments :

Section 5, lines 1 and 2, between the words "for" and
"six" insert the words seven hours from the first of May to
the first of October, and for the remainder of the year.

Section 7, line 9, strike out the word "July" and insert
the word August.

Which were severally read and adopted.

Mr. Keech submitted the following amendment:

Section 6, line 5, insert after the word "Trustees," or
who shall at any time break open or injure the shool house,
furniture, books, globes or other property.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Pentland submitted the following amendment :

Section 7, strike out after the word "day," in line 11, to
the word " and, " in line 18.
Which was rejected.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendment:

Chapter 9, section 1, line 2, strike out the word " hold-
ing," and insert the words, such persons shall hold.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Legg submitted the following amendment :

Chapter 9, section 2, line 2, strike out the words "after
thirty days notice."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Biddison submitted the following amendment:
In line 1, section 3, chapter 9, after the word "'shall,"
strike out the words " keep, prepare and."
Which was rejected.
