814 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 13,

On motion of Mr. Legg,

The vote by which the last amendment was adopted,
Was reconsidered.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
amendment.

It was rejected.

Mr. Legg submitted the following amendment:

Fill the blank in line 7, section 3, with the words twenty-
five hundred dollars.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Keech submitted the following amendment:

Fill the blank in section 3, line 7, with the words one
thousand.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Fill the blank in line 7, section 3, with the words two
thousand.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendment :

Section 3, line 9, after the word "district," insert the
words, provided the expenses of the said Board be defrayed
by the Board of Trustees.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
amendment:

Section 10, line 6, after the word "formed," insert the
words, or said district from which it may be formed.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Keech submitted the following amendment:

Section 10, line 4, after the word "herein," insert the
word before.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Section 11. If any person not belonging to a school or a
school-house district, shall write, carve, or in any other
manner place in view any obscene device or words in or
about the school house, he shall be punished in. a fine not ex-
ceeding ten dollars; the fine to be paid to the school house
district fund ; and any pupil of a school who shall be de-
tected in such an offense shall be expelled from the school
