770 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 12.

The House took up for consideration

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore City
Grain Elevator and Storage Company.

Which was read a second time and ordered to he en-
grossed for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act passed the 23d
of March, 1867, chapter 184, entitled an Act to repeal Arti-
cle 71 of the Code of Public General Laws of the State of
Maryland, entitled Oysters, and to re-enact the same with
amendments,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Dalrymple submitted the following amendment:

Section 3, line 9, strike out the word "September," and
insert October.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Legg submitted the following amendment:

Section 8, line 4. Insert after the word "licensed," the
words, said length to be obtained by keel measurement.

Which was adopted.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,

The House proceeded to the general consideration oi the
first order of the day,

Being the bill entitled an Act to levy a tax upon all bank-
ing institutions doing business in this State, in augmenta-
tion of the Free School Fund of this State.

Said bill being upon a third reading,

On motion of Mr. Legg,
The rules were suspended, and
The House resumed the consideration of

The bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act passed the 23d
of March, 1867, chapter 184, entitled an Act to repeal Arti-
cle 71 of the Code of Public General Laws of the State of
Maryland, entitled Oysters, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Add at end of section 11, provided that this Act shall not
apply to Worcester county.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Coad submitted the following amendment:
