Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Claims.

Mr. Morse submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Robb,
of Baltimore city, is absent from sickness.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Biddison,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill conferring authority upon the Governor to remove
insane convicts from the Penitentiary, and provide for their
support in some suitable hospital within the state.

On motion of Mr. Chapman,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a hill continuing in force the law regulating the fees of
Justices of the Peace.

Also,

Leave was granted to the Committee on. the Judiciary to
report a bill regulating the mode by which freights, measure-
ment and commission on grain shall be charged.

Mr. Latrobe, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay David Fowler for legal services in the Comptroller's
Office.

Which was read a first time.
Also,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the comple-
tion of the Maryland and Delaware Rail Road.

Which was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

Mr. Mullin, from the Committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments the second section of the Act of 1867, chapter 341, en-
titled an Act supplementary to an Act to provide for the gen-
eral valuation and assessment of property in this State,
passed at the extra session of the General Assembly, in the
year 1866, chapter 157.

Which was read a first time.
