THURSDAY, March 12, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Leech.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker.) Loker, Coad, Boyer, Beck,
Hammond, Deale, Dalrymple, Chapman, Slingluff, Mon-
tague, Poteet, Holmes, Biddison, Lowe, Corbin, Davis, of
Cecil, Touchstone, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Williams, Legg,
Smith, of Worcester, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus,
Byers, Silver, Nelson, Vandiver, Brown, Moore, Hubbard,
Sanner, Morse, Blake, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty,
McElroy, Harig, Markland, Marshall, Conway, Coudy,
Kohrer, Seibert, Riggs, Conley, McCulloh, Kean, Devecmon,
Trimble, Hall, Davis, of Carrol!, Jordan, Worthington,
Clark, Jones, Hopkins—66.

Mr. Boyer presented the petition of A. Medders, David C.
Blackiston, and 65 other citizens of Kent county to build a
bridge over Sassafras river at Georgetown, in Kent county,
and Fredericktown, in Cecil county.

Which was read and referred to the select committee on
that subject.

Mr. Davis, of Cecil, presented the petition of James M.
Budd, George Biddle, and thirty-one other citizens of Cecil
county, praying the General Assembly of Maryland to pass
an Act allowing the County Commissioners to appoint one
Collector of taxes for said county.

Also, the petition of Walter Armstrong and eighty-four
other citizens of Cecil county, praying the General Assembly

of Maryland to pass an Act allowing the County Commission-
ers to appoint a County Receiver of taxes for said county.

Which were severally read and referred to the Cecil Dele-
gation.

Mr. Wenner presented the petition of 200 citizens of Buck-
eystown district, Frederick county, to change the place of
voting in said district.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Mr. Touchstone presented the memorial of John J. Heck-
art, member of the Senate of Maryland in 1862, praying
compensation while on duty as a Senator of the State of Ma-
