The bill was then returned to the Senate.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Southern
Maryland Rail Road Company,

Being upon a third reading,

Mr. Mitchell, (by unanimous consent,) submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:

Amend section 10 by adding thereto the following :

Provided., That the Board of Directors of said Company
shall have power to receive payment for the whole, or any
part of any subscription to the capital stock of said Company,
either in land or money ; and if in land, then at such price,
valuation, or terms as may be agreed upon by the subscriber
and those appointed and empowered to receive such subscrip-
tions.

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a third time and
passed by yeas and nays as follows :
