The Committee met.
Mr. Brown in the Chair.

The Committee took up for consideration the bill antitled
an Act to add a new Article to the Code of Public General
Laws to be entitled "Public Education," providing a general
system of Free Public Schools for the State of Maryland, and
to repeal all Laws inconsistent therewith with pending
amendment, which had been committed to them by the
House.

The question recurring upon the House amendment sub-
mitted by Mr. Iglehart.

Pending the consideration of which,

Mr. Robb moved that the Committee do now rise, report
progress and ask leave to sit again ;

The question then recurring upon the amendment,

Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city, moved that the Committee
•do now rise, report progress and ask leave to sit again ;

Decided in the affirmative.
The Committee then rose.
