Which were severally read and referred to Messrs. Mitch-
ell, Chapman and Loker.

Also, the petition of E. Wells, Wm. Bos well, and P. H.
Muschett, praying that a certain bond given by them to the
State, some years since, in accordance with the militia laws
then in force, may be released and cancelled for the reasons
set forth in said petition.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Militia.

Mr. Brown presented the petition of J. C. Michael, and 50
other citizens, asking the passage of an Act to protect persons
and property from injury at the crossings of the Philadel-
phia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road Company.

Which was read and referred to the select committee
on that subject.

Mr. Worthington submitted the following order :

Ordered, That this Hall be opened on Sundays, from 8
o'clock A. M. until 9 o'clock P. M., for the use of the mem-
bers and officers of this House.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Kean submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Mr. McCulloh have leave of absence for
this day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Sudler submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Rose
was absent on Saturday, attending to important private
business.

Which was adopted.

Mr, Latrobe submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Pentland have leave of absence for
this day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Sanner submitted the following order :

Ordered, That a committee of five be appointed by the
Speaker of this House to take in consideration the propriety
of erecting, in a suitable place and in a suitable and sub-
stantial manner, the gun known as "Lord Baltimore," an
historical reminiscence of the early settlement of the Com-
monwealth of Maryland.

Which was adopted, and

Messrs. Sanner, Legg, Smith, of Baltimore city, Jordan,
and Iglehart, constituted said committee.
