1868.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.

The bill entitled an Act to add to the 4th Article of the
Code of Public Local Laws the following sections empower-
ing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to construct.
open, enlarge, or straighten sewers within the limits of the
city, and to provide the means for paying the same, and
compensation for any damage to property holders caused by
the construction, opening, enlarging, or straightening of
any sewer within the limits of the city.

Being upon a third reading,

Mr. Montague (by unanimous consent) submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:

First section, fourth line, insert after the word " property,"
the words " upon giving thirty days notice in writing to the
owners or agent of said property."

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a third time and passed
by yeas and nays as follows :

Section 1, line 4, after the name of "Joshua Linthicum,"
insert the names of E. J. Henkle, Richard O. Crisp and
William Hawkins.
