Mr. Wenner presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Frederick county praying the repeal of the Act passed 1864,
chapter 184, prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquors with-
in three miles of Myersville.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Riggs presented the petition of citizens of Montgo-
mery county opposed to the repeal of the Funeral Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Williams presented the petition of the citizens of
Prince George's county against the passage of an Act re-
leasing from, punishment convicts who any now in the Peni-
tentiary for offences committed during the existence of slavery
in our State and upon that institution.

Which was read and referred to the select committee on that
subject.

Mr. McElroy submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Attorney General be and he is hereby
requested to inform this House whether, in his opinion, it is
competent for the General Assembly to pass an Act to levy a
tax upon the Banks, known as National Banks, organized
under the Act of Congress, in augmentation of the Free
School fund, or any other tax than such as is laid equally
upon all the property liable to taxation in this State.

On motion of Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations toin-
troduce a bill to amend chapter 110 of the Laws of 1808, en-
titled an Act to incorporate the contributors to the Baltimore
General Dispensary.

On motion of Mr. Slingluff,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to adjust the mileage of Jurors.

Also,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciiry to-
introduce a bill to increase the pay of Witnesses.
