Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

On motion of Mr. Latrobe, (the rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation to re-
port a bill to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to provide for the improvement of their public parks,
by making appropriations therefor within certain limits.

Mr. Nicolai (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of Thomas A. Elliott, J. G. Belt, and fifteen other
citizens of Baltimore county, praying the passage of an Act
to continue the present school system in force Hill July 15,
1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following :

A bill entitled an Act to make valid the official acts of the
Justices of the Peace, Constables and Supervisors of the Pub-
lic Roads in Wicomico county.

Endorsed, " passed by yeas and nays."

Which was read a first time, and referred to Messrs,
Fooks, Hopkins and Holloway.

Also a hill entitled an Act to amend Article 29 of the
Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland,
adding thereto the following section :

Endorsed, " passed by yeas and nays."

Which was read a first time, and referred to the Somerset
and Worcester delegations.

Mr. Maynard from select committee reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act to pay Elizabeth C. Dorsey, of Fred-
crick county, widow of Vachel W. Dorsey, who was a sol-
dier of the War of 1812, from the State of Maryland, an an-
nual pension of eighty dollars during her natural life.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Hopkins from select committee reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act limiting the number of Justices of the
Peace and Constables in Wicomico county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Nicolai, Chairman select committee, submitted the
following report :

The special committee to whom was referred the Gover-
nor's Message and accompanying Documents for distribution
to appropriate committees, respectfully report the following :

That all such parts and portions of said Message as relate
to the financial condition and matters of the State, be re-
ferred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
That so much and such parts thereof as relate to Educa-
tion and Public 'Instruction and Schools, be referred to the
Committee on Education.

That so much as refers to the Militia, be referred to the
Committee on Militia.
