So it appeared that no person received a majority of all
the votes cast by the House of Delegates.

Mr. Bowlus (the rules being suspended) presented the
petition of stockholders and 168 citizens, for supplement to
the charter of the Liberty and Frederick Turnpike Company:

Which was read and referred to the Frederick county
delegation.

Mr. Poteet (the rules being suspended) presented the peti-
tion of W. Stonebraker, J. G. Gardner, and thirty-two
other citizens of Baltimore county, praying the passage of an
Act to continue the present school system in force till July
15, 1868;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion .

John M. Carter, Esq., Secretary of State, delivered the
following message from the Executive :

ANNAPOLIS, Jan. 14, 1868.
To the House of Delegates :

GENTLEMEN :—In compliance with the request of your
Honorable Body, I herewith transmit the official returns of
the Judges of Election, certifying the result of the election
for members of the House of Delegates, held in this State on
the 5th day of November last.

THOMAS SWANN,

Governor.

With accompanying papers;

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Mr. Harden (the rules being suspended) presented the
petition of William Tersfield and thirty-three others, pray-
ing the passage of an Act incorporating the Oakland and
Westminster Turnpike Company;
