MONDAY, February 24, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Henderson.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Coad, Hammond, Igle-
hart, Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple, Chapman, Poteet, Bid-
dison, Rose, Corbin, Johnson, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Sudler,
Holloway, Smith, of Worcester, Maynard, Byers, Moore,
Hubbard, Sanner, Wentz, Robb, Blake, Latrobe, Smith, of
Baltimore city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin,
Chaisty, McElroy, Harig, Markland, Marshall, Conway,
Syester, Coudy, Seibert, Offutt, Conley, McCulloh, Kean,
Trimble, Jordan, Harden, Fooks, Hopkins—50.

The Speaker laid before the House the annual report of
St John's College,

Which was read, and,

On motion of Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city,

Ordered to be printed, and referred to the Committee on
Ways and Means.

Also, the petition of Ignatius Brown, Joanna Buhrman,
and others, of Frederick county, praying the sale of liquor
may not be allowed within three miles of Mt. Moriah Church.

Which was read and referred to the Frederick county
delegation.

Mr. Blake presented the petition of the House of Refuge,
for an appropriation.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Harden presented the petition of Daniel Stull, Samuel
Lawner, and 40 others, citizens of Carroll county, against a
repeal of the funeral law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Maynard presented the petition of John Diller, Ben-
jamin S. Dixon, and 31 other citizens of Frederick county,
against taxing dogs to remunerate owners of sheep for losses
sustained by dogs.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
