Also, the petition of G. F. Smith, and 43 others, against
the repeal of the funeral law.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on
the Judiciary.

Mr. Clark presented the petition of Wm. Baker Dorsey,
and 35 other citizens of Howard county, praying the passage
of a law creating the office of Treasurer of Howard county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Clark, Jones and
Poteet.

Mr. Maynard presented the petition of John T. Waltz,
Grafton Hammond, and a number of other citizens of Fred-
erick county, opposed to taxing dogs for remunerating owners
for the loss of sheep.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ag-
riculture.

Mr. Goad presented the petition of R. B. Harnmett, and 29
other citizens of St. Mary's county, relative to placing the
Almshouse at the disposal of the County Commissioners of
said county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Coad, Loker and
Chapman.

Also, the petition of 137 citizens of St. Mary's county,
praying the passage of an Act to permit citizens of that
county to dredge on the waters of the Potomac, bordering on
St. Mary's county.

Which was read and referred to the select committee on
oysters and the oyster law.

Mr. Nicolai presented the petition of R. R. Boarman, and
30 other citizens of Baltimore county, asking that the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland pass a law reducing the rate of
fare on the York Road Rail Road.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Syester presented the memorial of Rebecca, May, widow
of Daniel May, a soldier in the war of 1812, asking a pension
at the hands of the State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Nicolai presented the petition of R. C. Mason and 30
other citizens of Baltimore county, in favor of reducing the
fare on the York Road Rail Road Company's cars.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.
