FRIDAY, February 21st, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Burke.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Coad, Boyer, Beck, Deale,
Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple, Mitchell, Chapman, Nicolai,
Montague, Poteet, Holmes, Biddisou, Rose, Lowe, Horsey,
Percy, Stewart, of Dorchester, Davis, of Cecil, Richards,
Mearns, Keech, Guy, Sudler, Legg, Holloway, Smith, of
Worcester, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus, Maynard,
Byers, Silver, Nelson, Brown, Moore, Hubbard, Sanner,
Wentz, Robb, Morse, Blake, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith,
of Baltimore city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin,
Chajsty, Markland, Marshall, Conway, Syester, Coudy, Her-
bert, Rohrer, Seibert, Riggs, Offutt, Conley, McCulloh,
Kean, Devecmon, Trimble, Hall, Davis, of Carroll, Jor-
dan, Worthington, Harden, Clark, Jones, Fooks, Hop-
kins—72.

A. S. Chambers, officer-elect, appeared, qualified and en-
tered upon the discharge of his duties.

The Speaker laid before the House the reply of A. P. Sor-
den, Clerk to the County Commissioners of Caroline county,
to an order of the House, adopted 4th February, 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Talbot and Caroline
delegations.

Mr. Hall presented the petition of John Daily and 84
other citizens of Allegany county, praying the passage of an
Act to incorporate the North Branch Lumber and Boom
Company.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.

Mr. Guy presented the petition of 31 citizens of Hyatts-
ville, Prince George's county, praying a passage of an Act
authorizing the School Commissioners of said county to build
a school house in the immediate vicinity of Hyattsville.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Brown presented the petition of Charles E. Markland,
and 40 others, from Harford county, against the repeal of
the funeral law.
