Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Hammond submitted the following amendment, to
come in at the end of section 1st:

Provided, That this Act shall not he so construed as to
authorize the said company to run the said ferry from the
wharf, commonly known as the County Wharf, or to make
any use of the same for the purposes of this corporation.

Pending the consideration of which,
On motion of Mr. Deale,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill with pending amendment, made the order of the day
for Thursday, the 27th of February, and the bill ordered to
be printed.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Commerce In-
surance Company of Baltimore,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the town of Bloom-
ington, in Allegany county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to enlarge the jurisdiction of the
Superior Court of Baltimore city,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Board of Direc-
tors of the Maryland Insurance and Security Company to re-
duce the par value of the shares of the capital stock of said
company, and to issue new stock in shares of such reduced
value,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Union Coal,
Iron, Lumber and Manufacturing Company, of Allegany
county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, moved that the House do
now adjourn until to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock.

Decided in the negative.

On motion of Mr. Bowlus,
The rules were suspended,

And the House proceeded to the consideration of hills enti-
tled to a third reading.
