40 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 10,

to amend an Act to incorporate the President and Directors
of the Howard Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore ;

Endorsed " passed by yeas and nays,"

Which was read a first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

On motion.of Mr. Syester,

At two o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned until to-
morrow, at 12 o'clock, M.

FRIDAY, January 10, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Burke.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

dan, Kean, Keech, Latrobe, Legg, Loker, Lowe, Markland,
Marshall, Maynard, McCulloh, McElroy, Mearns, Mitchell,
Montague, Moore, Morse, Mullin, Nelson, Nicolai, Offutt,
Pentland, Percy, Poteet, Richards, Riggs, Robb, Rohrer,

The Speaker laid before the House a memorial from J. W.
Bond & Co., on the subject of currency and taxation :

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Percy submitted the following order :

Ordered, That an additional folder be appointed by the
House,

Which was read.

Mr. Mullin submitted the following as a substitute:

Ordered, That a special committee of three be appointed
to inquire what, if any, additional officers of the House are
required.

Which was adopted, and Messrs. Mullin, Percy and Legg,
constituted said committee.
