57th sections of Article 19 of the Public Local Law of Somer-
set county relating to fences ;

Which was read a first time.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 54, 55, 56 and
57 of Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws relating to
the Circuit Court for Washington county, and the manner
and times of holding the terms thereof, and to re-enact the
same with amendments,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

Mr, Biddison, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That the Committee on Colored Populations be
required to introduce a bill, to request the different railroad
companies in this State to furnish separate cars for the use of
colored persons ;

Which was adopted.

The hour of 12 M. having arrived, being the time agreed
upon between the two Houses, to proceed to the election of
State Treasurer,

Mr. Morse nominated John Merryman, of Baltimore county.

Mr. Herbert nominated Robert Fowler, of Baltimore
county.

Mr. Herbert submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 9, Ib68.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
to proceed to the election of State Treasurer, in accordance
with the message of your Honorable Body, acceded to by
this House on the 3d instant.

Wre have nominated on the part of this House, Messrs.
John Merryman and Robert Fowler, of Baltimore county,
and we have appointed Messrs. Herbert and Robb, to join
such gentlemen as may be named by your Honorable Body,
to count the ballots and report the result.

Chief Clerk.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :
