report whatever legislation is necessary in the premises. We
have appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Nicolai,
Pentland, Holmes and Herbert.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Brown,

The vote by which the order was adopted on Friday last,
instructing the Committee on Claims to pay to each of the
officers of the last House of Delegates who have officiated in
the organization of the present House, five days per diem,
was reconsidered ;

The question then recurring npon the adoption of the
order,

Mr. Brown submitted the following amendment:

Strike out the word "five" before the word " days," and
insert the word "eight;"

Which was adopted.

The order as amended, was then adopted.

Mr. McElroy (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That the Librarian furnish to the members and
officers of the House of Delegates the same articles of sta-
tionery as furnished at the last session, if required, not to
exceed the amount limited by law ;

Which, on motion of Mr. Chaisty,

Was laid on the table.

Mr. Montague, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order.

Ordered, That a committee of six be appointed to take
under consideration section 58, Article 3, of the Constitution,
who shall report such measures as they may deem advisable
for the purpose of effectually carrying out the provisions of
said Article.

Which was read, and
On motion by Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city,

Was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Nicolai, Chairman of the select committee, submitted
the following report:

The special committee, to whom was referred the duty of
distributing to appropriate committees the several subjects
considered in the Governor's Message, respectfully report the
following references :

Ordered, That all subjects relating to Finance, to the Com-
mittee of Ways and Means.

In relation to the Public School system, to the Committee
on Education.

In reference to the Militia, to the Committee on Militia.
