CHAPTER 247.

 

AN ACT to provide for the payment of a portion
of the expenses of the General Assembly of
Maryland, at its January Session, eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-seven.

 

Whereas, the Legislature, at the January Ses-
sion of eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, passed,
in each House, an order that certain officers of the
General Assembly should be compensated for ser-
vices rendered said State, upon which said orders
the Chairman of the Committee on Claims was in-
structed to issue certificates for the same, which
said certificates were issued to the parties entitled,
and whereas the respective amounts of said certifi-
cates so issued were included in the report of the
Chairman of the Committee on Claims, made to
the General Assembly of Maryland, showing the
disbursements made by said Committee and the
amount of the expenses of the said Session of the
General Assembly of Maryland, which report was
adopted by the House of Delegates on the twenty-
third day of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-
seven.

Preamble,

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasu-
ry be, and he is hereby required to issue his war-
rant on the Treasurer in favor of the Cashier of
the First National Bank of Annapolis, for the sum
of Thirteen hundred dollars, in payment of eight
certificates of the Committee on Claims of the last
General Assembly, issued to officers of the Legis-
lature as follows : one in favor of Thomas H.
Moore for six hundred dollars, George Gale one
hundred dollars, William Freeman one hundred
dollars, James T. Haines one hundred dollars,
William H. Gassaway one hundred dollars, and
A. S. Goodwin one hundred dollars, which were
paid by said bank on presentation by said persons ;
two others, for one hundred dollars each, issued
respectively to S. L. Booth and J. M. Bosley, which
were paid by Hooper, Reese & Co., and are held
by the said bank for collection ; also to Augustus
Gassaway one hundred dollars, Thomas T. Town-
