CHAPTER 223.
AN ACT to authorize the Comptroller to invest
the balance of the unappropriated fund, arising
from the Sale of the Land Scrip, donated to this
State, by the United States, for the benefit of
Agricultural and Mechanical Arts.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller be, and he is
hereby authorized and directed to invest in the
bonds, to be redeemed in fifteen years, of the
Trustees of the Brookville Academy, in Montgom-
ery County, yielding an interest of six per cent,
per annum, payable semi-annually, the balance of
the fund arising from the sale of the Land Scrip
donated to this State for the benefit of Agricultu-
ral and Mechanical Arts, which said fund remains
in his hands unappropriated.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 224.
AN ACT to pay Elizabeth C. Dorsey, of Freder-
ick County, widow of Vachel W. Dorsey, who
was a soldier of the war of 1812, from the State
of Maryland, an Annual Pension of Eighty
Dollars, during her natural life.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, upon the war-
rant of the Comptroller, be, and he is hereby
authorized and directed, to pay annually, (in four
equal and quarterly installments of twenty dollars
each, to the order of Andrew Henderson, of Fred-
