Which was read and referred to the Committee on Militia.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following House
hills, endorsed "Passed by yeas and nays."

A bill entitled an Act, entitled a supplement to an Act
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, at January
session, 1864, chapter 96, entitled an Act to incorporate the
Liberty and New Windsor Turnpike Road Company in Fred-
erick and Carroll counties.

A bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 1, 2, 3, 9, 11 and
19 of Article 21, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled
"Washington county," sub-title "Alms House," and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

A bill entitled an Act to make valid certain official acts of
John Miller as a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland,
in and for Somerset county.

Also, returned the following House bills, endorsed, "Passed
by yeas and nays with proposed amendments."

A bill entitled an Act for the relief of Nathaniel Duke.
George W. Dowell and Thomas B. Billingsley.

Amendment proposed :

Amend 1st section, 2d line, by striking out the word "an
thorized," and inserting in its place the word allowed.

Second amendment—Amend 1st section, 3d line, by in-
serting before the word "to" the words "in their discretion."

The amendments were adopted, and the bill, as amended,
Passed by yeas and nays as follows :
