Mr. Deale, from a select committee, reported favorably a
hill entitled an Act to repeal section 194 of Article 8 of the
Public Local Laws entitled Anne Arundel county, sub-
title Sheriff, and to re-enact another section in lieu thereof re-
lating to the fees of Sheriff for keeping and boarding pris-
oners.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Corbin, from a select committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to appoint an
additional Justice of the Peace for Dame's Quarter and
Princess Anne election districts, Somerset county.

Which was read a first time.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 46 and 47 of the
Code of Public Local Laws for Somerset county, and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

Which was read a first time.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to provide for a Public Ferry at
Pichoboth, in Somerset county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Hammond, from a select committee, reported favora-
bly a bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1867, chapter
185. and to re-enact the following sections in lieu thereof.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Devecmon, from a select committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Dime Bank of Cum-
berland.

Which was read a first time.
Also,

A bill entitled an Act to extend the time to the County
Commissioners of Allegany county, for hearing appeals under
the Act of 1866, chapter 157.

Which was read a first time.

John M. Carter, Esq., Secretary of State, delivered the
following message from His Excellency, the Governor.

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, Feb. 5, 1868.
To the House of Delegates :

GENTLEMEN : I herewith transmit the report of the Adju-
tant General for the year 1867, and would respectfully sug-
gest the appointment of a joint committee of the two branches
