CHAPTER 154.

AN ACT to incorporate the Hooversville and Bal-
timore Turnpike Company.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That M. Bannon, E. G. Kilbourne,
Amos R. Harman, Samuel S. Linthicum, Richard
A. Shipley and James A. Bruce be and they are
hereby appointed Commissioners, who shall cause
books to be opened at Baltimore City, at such time
and place as they may deem advisable, for the pur-
pose of receiving subscriptions to the capital stock
of the Company, incorporated by this Act, notice
having been given as the said Commissioners may
deem expedient, of the time and place of opening
said books, and continue the same open from time
to time so long as they may find necessary to
complete such subscriptions, for not less than ten
days.

Commission-
ers.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said Company shall be fifty thousand dollars,
in shares of one hundred dollars each, and all in-
dividuals and bodies corporate and the Commis-
sioners of Anne Arundel County and of Baltimore
County, subject to the provisions of Article three,
section fifty-four, of the Constitution, and the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, subject to
the provisions of Article eleven, section seven, of
the Constitution, are hereby authorized and em-
powered to subscribe for such amount of said stock
as they may think proper ; provided, nevertheless,
that at the time of making the subscription to said
stock there shall be paid to the said Commission-
ers upon such shares the sum of five dollars per

share, and the residue thereof shall be paid at such
time and in such manner as may be prescribed by
the President and Directors of the said Company,
and provided, that the Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County shall not subscribe more than one-
half of the estimated cost of said road.

Installments.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever one-
third of the shares of the said stock shall be sub-
scribed, then the said subscribers shall be declared
to be incorporated by the name of the Hooversville
