January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing that the com-
mittees on Education, of the Senate and House, shall sit
jointly and respectfully, concur therein.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. McElroy submitted the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

The Honorable Oden Bowie having been elected Governor
of this State, we propose, with the concurrence of your Hon-
orable Body, the appointment of a Joint Committee of the
two Houses to wait on him, and request his attendance on
Wednesday, 8th instant, at two o'clock, in the Senate Cham-
ber, to qualify according to the Constitution and form of
Government of this State. We have appointed Messrs Mc-
Elroy, Latrobe, Keech, Brown, Chapman, as said committee
on the part of the House of Delegates, to meet such gentle-
men as may be selected by your Honorable Body.

MILTON Y. KIDD, Chief Clerk.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Legg submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

In order to secure harmony of action and facilitate legisla-
tion, we respectfully request, with the concurrence of your
Honorable Body, that the committees on the Oyster Laws and
Trade, of the House of Delegates and Senate, sit as a joint
committee, for the purpose of considering and reporting a law
to better protect the waters of our State.

Which was read and assented to.

Mr. Latrobe submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 7, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing the appoint-
ment of a joint standing committee of the Senate and
House of Delegates as is required to be appointed by the
24th section of the 3d Article of the Constitution, who shall
have power to send for persons and examine them on oath.
