TUESDAY, February 4, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Slicer.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Coad, Boyer, Ham-
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Mitchell, Chapman, Nicolai, Sling-
luff, Montague, Holmes, Biddison, Rose, Corbin, Horsey,
Stewart, of Dorchester, Johnson, Davis, of Cecil, Touch-
stone, Richards, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Williams, Sudler,
Smith, of Worcester, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus,
Maynard, Byers, Silver, Nelson, Vandiver, Brown, Moore,
Hubbard, Sauner, Wentz, Robb, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith,
of Baltimore city., Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin,
Chaisty, McElroy, Harig, Markland, Conway, Syester,
Coudy, Herbert, Rohrer, Seibert, Riggs, Conley, McCulloh,
Kean, Devecmon, Trimble, Hall, Davis, of Carroll, Jordan,
Worthington, Clark, Jones, Hopkins—72.

Mr. Slingluff presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Baltimore city against the repeal of the funeral law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Brown presented the petition of Henry A. Silver and
15 other citizens of the Fifth District of Harford county, ask-
ing that the County Commissioners of Harford county he.
empowered to grant an annual pension to Columbus Scar-
borough of fifty dollars out of the funds of the county.

Which was read and referred to the Harford county dele-
gation.

Mr. Keech presented the petition of John H. Howell and
17 others, teachers of primary schools in Prince George's
county, praying that the present school system be continued
until July 15th, 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Mr. Corbin presented the petition of 172 citizens of Somer-
set and Worcester counties, in opposition to widening the
draw of the bridge over the Pocomoke river, at Newtown.

Which was read and referred to the Somerset and Worces-
ter delegations.

Mr. Hubbard presented a petition from J. W. Bryant, T.
