1868.] OF THE SENATE. 783 Denson, Snyder, Fields, Walsh, Hyland, Welch—13. Hammond, NEGATIVE—None. And returned to the House of Delegates. Mr. Hammond offered the following Resolution : Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate are due, and are "hereby tendered to the Hon. Barnes Compton, for the able, impartial and courteous manner in which he has presided over the deliberations of the Senate. Which was unanimously adopted. Mr. Clarke submitted the following order : Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims, issue a certificate for the sum of three hundred dollars to James Wingate, reporter for the Senate, for services rendered the Senate. Which was adopted by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Kimmel, Browne, Lee, Biggs, Maddox, Clarke, Miller, Carroll, Malone, Denson, Spates, Earle, Snyder, Grove, Smith, Hammond, Welch—18. NEGATIVE. Messrs. Brewer, Hyland, Fields, Parker, of Calvert—4. Mr. Malone offered the following : Ordered, That each member and officer of this House be entitled to four days per diem, being the usual sum allowed to members and officers in coming from and returning to their homes, and that the Chairman of the Committee on Claims, be instructed to issue his certificate for twenty dol- lars, to each member and officer to carry out said order.
