Mr. Maddox moved a reconsideration of the vote by which

the last mentioned bill was rejected.
Which motion was adopted.

And the bill then being before the Senate,
Was passed by yeas and nays as follows:

The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1867,

chapter 372, entitled an Act to further extend the time and
provison of the Act passed February 6th, chapter 15th, and
March 14th, 1864, chapter 373, and the supplements thereto,
relating to the payment of bounties to volunteers and drafted
men of this State, and to substitute therefor an Act to pro-
vide for the payment of additional bounty, &c.,

Was taken up, and
Mr. Henkle offered the following amendments :

Section 3, lines 5 and 6, strike out the words "enlisted,"
and "and mustered."

Provided, that the provisions of this Act shall not apply
to any case in which the cost of the substitute furnished or
commutation money paid was furnished to or for the party
"by any society, club or association, or which cost and expense
has been satisfied or paid by the county or district in which
the party may have resided, and each and every party apply-
ing for relief under the provisions of this Act, shall testify
upon oath, corroborated by the evidence of two or more dis-
interested witnesses, that he has not directly or indirectly
received such aid or compensation.

Amend section 4, line 1, strike out "every white volun-
teer;" and in 2d line strike out " or otherwise."

Section 5, line 1, strike out " volunteer or."
Which were adopted.
