Mr. Compton offered the following amendment:
Strike out all after the word "State," where it occurs the
second time.

Mr. Compton offered the following additional section to
chapter 13:

SEC. 13. He shall, on or before the 15th day of January,
at every regular session of the General Assembly, report to
the Legislature the condition of the schools of the State, a
statement of the apportionment of money to the counties and
the city of Baltimore for support of schools, an abstract of
the reports received from County School Commissioners, and
shall make such suggestions for the improvement of schools
and the advancement of public education as he may deem
expedient.

Which was withdrawn, and

Mr. Hammond offered the following as section 13, chapter
13:

He shall, on or before the 15th day of January in each
and every year, make a report to the Governor of the condi-
tion of the schools of the State, a statement of the apportion-
ment of money to the counties and the city of Baltimore for
the support of schools, an abstract of the reports received
from County School Commissioners, and shall make such
suggestions for the improvement of schools, and the advance-
ment of public education as he shall deem expedient.

Which was adopted.
