tee on Finance.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported
favorably the above bill, and

The rules were suspended by the following vote :

The consideration of the House General School Bill was
continued from chapter 13.
Mr. Kimmel offered the following amendment :

Page 34, amend section 1 by adding: For the government

of the Normal School, and the election of the Principal and
Professors thereof, the Governor shall nominate, and with
the advice and consent of the Senate appoint at the present
session of the General Assembly of Maryland, and at every
regular session thereafter, three persons, to be styled the
Board of Trustees of the Maryland State Normal School. Said
Board shall elect a Treasurer, who shall also be the Secre-
tary, at a salary of $300 per annum, who shall give bond in
such amount as the Board may direct. The Principal of said
school shall receive a salary of dollars per annum,
and the Professors and Teachers of the Model School shall
receive such salaries as the Board may decide.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Henkle offered the following amendment:
Page 19, chapter 4, section 1, line 7, after the word
"vote," insert, and the School Commissioner for the several
counties shall give at least ten days public notice of such

elections, by advertisement in the newspapers of the county-
or Baltimore city.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Kimmel offered the following amendment as section
12, chapter 13:

The Principal of the State Normal School shall have the
general supervision of all the public schools in this State ;
he shall visit each county annually, to confer with the Board
