Mr. Harig, (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of Wm. Ensor and others, in relation to convict

labor.

Which was read, and referred to the Select Committee
on that subject.

Mr. Pentland, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That the use of the Hall of the House of Dele-
gates, be granted to the Young Men's Christian Association
of this city, on Tuesday evening next, 4th February, to hear
a lecture from Rev. John A. Williams.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Iglehart, chairman of the Committee on Corporations.
reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the
Antietam Hotel Company of Hagerstown.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Iglehart, chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to further amend
the charter of the Associated Firemen's Insurance Company
of the city of Baltimore.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Wentz, chairman of the Committee on Education, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled an Act to authorize and
direct the State Librarian to subscribe for a sufficient number
of Simon J. Martenet's Map of Maryland, to supply each
public school in the State therewith.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Smith, chairman of the Committee on Printing, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of
1864, chapter 405, relating to the establishment of a uniform
system of contracting for public printing.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Syester, chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably a bill entitled an Act appropria-
ting a sum of money to be expended in removing the re-
mains of the Confederate dead, who fell in the battles of
South Mountain and Antietam, or died of wounds received
in said battles, to the Antietam National Cemetery.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Markland, chairman of the Committee on Public
Buildings, reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to au-
thorize and direct the Comptroller of the Treasury to pur-
chase certain lots of ground herein described for the erection
of a mansion for the Governor of this State, and making ap-
propriation for the payment of the same.
