Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate. -

Mr. Harden, (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of John E. Smith, William A. McKellip and thirty
other citizens of Carroll county, praying the passage of an
Act to incorporate a Turnpike Road Company to build a road
from the Liberty Turnpike to Westminster, Carroll county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Biddison, (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of John Lewin and 60 others of the 6th district of
Baltimore county, against the present school law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation .

On motion of Mr. Markland,
(The rules being suspended.)

Leave was granted to the Committee on Public Buildings
to report a bill authorizing an appropriation of a sum of
money for the purchase of a lot of ground on which to erect
a mansion for the Governor of this State.

The bill entitled an Act, to authorize the County Commis-
sioners of Washington county to purchase the field notes,
books, and records of surveys heretofore made within the
limits of said county, and to levy such tax as may be neces-
sary to defray the expenses of such purchase,

Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows ;
