President, Hyland, Browne, Kimmel, Biggs, Lee, Brewer, Malone, Clarke, Parker, of Calvert, Carroll, Spates, Earle, Snyder, Fields, Smith, Henkle, Walsh—18. NEGATIVE—Non e. The bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. Senate bill entitled an Act to amend and define the Act of Assembly of 1867, chapter 385, entitled an Act to provide for the payment of pensions to Maryland soldiers of the war of 1812, and widows of soldiers of 1812, Was taken up, And Mr. Hammond offered the following amendment: Strike out in section 1, line 3, the words " have been or." The question on the adoption of the amendment was de- termined in the affirmative. Mr. Henkle offered the following amendment : Section 1, line 15, after the word "were," insert "resi- dents of this State and in the war of. ' ' Which was adopted. Mr. Earle offered the following amendment : Amend section 1, line 9, by inserting after the word " twelve," the words " who was the wife of said soldier du- ring the time he was rendering military service."
