Rose and others the amounts paid by them respectively, on receiving commissions as Constables, which commissions have been decided by the Court of Appeals to be void. Which was read a first time, and referred to the Committee on Finance. Also, A bill entitled an Act providing for the repair of the Pub- lic Roads of Montgomery county. Which was read a first time and referred to the Senators from Somerset, Caroline and Montgomery. Also, A bill entitled an Act to incorporate the People's Towing and Transportation Company of Baltimore. Which was read a first time, and referred to the Committee on Corporations. A bill entitled an Act to alter and amend the Act of Janu- ary session, 1867, chapter 304, entitled an Act to incorporate the Central Maryland Rail Road Company, passed on the 18th day of March, in the year 1867. Which was read a first time, and referred to the Commit- tee on Corporations. A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 6 of chapter 189 of the laws of Maryland, passed January session, 1867, entitled an Act to provide by law for taking and perpetuating the evidence of the number of persons held to labor and service in the State of Maryland, and emancipated by the Constitu- tion adopted in the year 1864, and by whom such persons were so held, passed March 22d, 1867, and substitute in lieu thereof the following section, Was read a first time, and referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings. A bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore and the County Commissioner of Washington county to waive the liens acquired by them re- spectively under a mortgage heretofore executed to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore by the Western Maryland Rail Road Company, in trust to indemnify the said Mayor and City Council of Baltimore and County Commissioners of Washington county, upon their endorsement respectively upon the second mortgage bonds of said company. |
