On motion by Mr. Hammond,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Tobacco Ware-
houses to introduce a bill to authorize certain parties to build
a pier to the wharf at Tobacco Warehouse No. 3.

Mr. Henkle, from a select committee, reported

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend and define the Act of
Assembly of 1867, chapter 385, entitled an Act to provide
for the payment of pensions to Maryland soldiers of the war
of 1812, and widows of deceased soldiers of 1812.

Which was read a first time.
On motion by Mr. Biggs,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Trustees
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mechanicstown, in
Frederick county.

Mr. Grove, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported back

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 51 of the Code
of Public General Laws, in relation to Justices of the Peace,
by adding thereto the following sections, with following
amendments:

Amend section 66 by striking out in line 7 all the re-
mainder of said section after the word kill.

Amend section 67 in line 2 by adding after the word coun-
ties the words in civil cases.

Amend section 68 in line 2 by striking out all in said line
after the word case, and amend line 3 of same section by
striking out the words for assault and battery and larceny,
and the word charged at the end of said line, and insert the
words to said cause.

Amend section 74, line 7, by striking out all after the
word rendered in said line to the end of said section.
Which were adopted.

The bill was then read a second time, and its engrossment
