Hyland, The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. The President presented a petition from sundry citizens of Wicomico county in opposition to the passage of a bill tax- ing the citizens of Salisbury, Wicomico county, for the erec- tion of a jail, &c. Which was referred to the Committee on Finance. Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported A bill entitled an Act to refund certain sums of money for State taxes erroneously paid into the Treasury of the State by the Society of the Redemptorists, and by St. Anthony's Orphan Asylum. Which was read the first time. Also, Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller of the Treasury to adjust and settle the claims of the State Attorneys in. the several counties and city of Baltimore, for certain fees due by the State. Which was read the first time. Also, Senate bill entitled an Act for the relief of Dr. John C. Parker and others, citizens of Calvert county. Which was read the first time. Also, Senate bill entitled an Act for the relief of James S. Mor- sall, Jr., of Calvert county. Which was read the first time. Also, Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Directors of the Maryland Penitentiary to construct dormitory buildings for the accommodation of the convicts in said prison, and make an .appropriation therefor. Which was read a first time. |
