President, Lee—2. Said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 810, of Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the city of Baltimore, and chapter 367, passed at the January session, 1867, and re-enact the same with amendments, Was read a third time and rejected by yeas and nays as. follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Clarke, Kimmel, Carroll, Malone—5. Denson, NEGATIVE. Messrs. President, Hammond, Browne, Lee, Brewer. Miller, Earle, Snyder, Fields, Smith, Henkle, Walsh—13. Hyland, Senate bill entitled an Act to encourage and facilitate im- migration to the State of Maryland, Which had been ordered to lie over, Was taken up on its second reading. Mr. Lee offered the following amendments : Strike out the title of the bill and insert, entitled an Act to organize and regulate the Department of Labor and Agri- culture, pursuant to the tenth Article of the Constitution, and strike out the preamble. Section 1, line 2, strike out the word "said," and after the word superintendent, insert the words of labor and agricul- ture. |
