TUESDAY, March 17th, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Miller.
Present at roll call :

Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Clarke, Denson, Earle,
Fields, Grove, Hyland, Hammond, Malone, Sayder, Walsh,
Welch—14.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to authorize the clerks of the several
Courts of this State to purchase from Abner Campbell the
right to use his patent for general indexing of Court Records,
and to pay for the same out of the fees of the clerks' offices.

On motion by Mr. Fields,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Caroline., Talbot
and Dorchester to introduce a new Article to the Code of
Public General Laws, to be entitled Public Roads in Caro-
line county.

Mr. Grove, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably

House bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 1,37,38,
39, 40, and 2, of chapter 252, of the Laws of Maryland,
passed January session, 1867, entitled an Act to repeal the
37th, 38th, 39th and 40th sections of the Code of Public
General Laws, entitled Licenses, and substitute in lieu
thereof the following sections.

With the following amendment :

But nothing herein contained shall prevent a regular resi-
dent commission house from allowing his or their regular
consignor, or the representative of said consignor from act-
ing as salesman when necessary in the sale and disposal of
the goods of said consignor; and all such sales so made
shall pass through the books of the consignor, and all bills
rendered in the firm name of said consignee.

The bill as amended read the second time.
