Mr. Earle from the Committee on Finance, reported favora- bly House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller to invest the balance of the unappropriated fund arising from the sale of the land scrip donated to this State by the United States, for the benefit of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, with the following amendments : Amend section 1, line 3, after the word "bonds," insert the words to be redeemed in fifteen years. Section 1, line 5, after the word "of," strike out the word "five," and insert in its place the word "six." Amend section 1, line 6, after the word "annum," insert the words "payable semi-annually." Which were adopted. And the bill as amended, read a second time. On motion by Mr. Snyder, The Senate adjourned until Monday, at 11 A. M. MONDAY, March 16th, 1868. The Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Present at roll call : Messrs. President, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Den- son, Earle, Fields, Grove, Hyland, Kimmel, Lee, Maddox, Snyder, Smith, Welch—16.
