WEDNESDAY, March 11,1868.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Father Burke.
Present at roll call :

Messrs. President, Browne, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Den-
son, Fields, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Kimmel,
Maddox, Miller, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Snyder, Smith,
Walsh, Welch—20.

Mr. Maddox presented the petition of Dr. Lynch and
others, citizens of St. Mary's county, asking permission to
dredge for oysters in certain localities.

Which was referred to the Committee, on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Smith presented the petition of F. P. Phelps, and
other citizens of Dorchester county, asking extension of time
for completing slave statistics in said county.

Which was referred to the Senators from Dorchester, Tal-
bot and Caroline.

Mr. Grove presented the petition of the Delaware Tribe of
Red Men, asking incorporation.
Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.

Mr. Henkle presented the memorial of citizens of the 11th
School District of Anne Arundel county, adverse to the pas-
sage of a law to prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors in.
the said district.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
Also,

Presented the memorial of the Board of Trustees of the
West River Classical Institute.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
On motion by Mr. Smith,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Dorchester, Tal-
bot and Caroline, to introduce a bill entitled an. Act to ex-
tend the time limited by the Act of 1867, chapter 189, sec-
tion 6, for producing an perpetuating the evidence of
ownership of slaves so far as the same relates to citizens, of
Dorchester county.

On motion by Mr. Brewer, it was

Ordered, That from and after this date the Senate will
meet at 11 o'clock, A. M., and at 8, P. M.
