A bill entitled an Act to provide for the better protection
ot partridges in Washington county.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act entitled a supplement to an Act
passed January session, 1856, chapter 146, entitled an Act
to incorporate the Gilmor House Company.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to require the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Washington county to prepare and make a general
index to the land records of Washington county, and to
transcribe one of the Equity Dockets of said Court.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 22 and 24 of Arti-
cle 61 of the Code of Public General Laws, and enact the
following in lieu thereof.

Severally endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."

The Speaker laid before the House, the following commu-
nication from Dr. James Higgins, late State Immigration
Agent;

ANNAPOLIS, January 29, 1868.
To the Honorable,

The Speaker of the House of Delegates :

SIR :—The House of Delegates at its last session ordered
that 5,000 copies of a work entitled " A succinct exposition
of the industrial resources and agricultural advantages of
Maryland " which by their order I had furnished them for
publication, should be given me for distribution in the dis-
charge of my duties as State Immigrant Agent of Maryland.
This office, created by the Legislature to exist for two years,
having been abolished by the late Constitutional Convention,
before half that time has expired, has now ceased to exist,
and there yet remains in my hands a large number of copies
of the above work not yet distributed, and I respectfully re-
turn them through you to the House of Delegates, the body
from which I received them, that the Honorable Body over
which you preside may take whatever action it may deem
proper in the premises.
