MONDAY, March 9, 71/2 o'clock, P. M. The Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Present at roll call. Messrs. President, Browne, Biggs, Carroll, Fields, Grove, Hyland, Hammond, Kimmel, Miller, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh, Welch—15. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow- ing message: BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, March 6th, 1868. Gentlemen of the Senate : We have received your communication soliciting the con- currence of this House in the appointment of a joint special committee to notify the Hon. George Vickers that he has been this day elected to represent this State in the United States Senate, for the unexpired time for which the Hon. P. F. Thomas was elected, and refused admission by the United States Senate, and respectfully concur therein. We have appointed on the part of the House Messrs, Smith, of Worcester, Hubbard and Vandiver. By order, MILTON Y. KIDD, Chief Clerk. Which was read. Also, delivered House joint resolution requesting the Governor to issue a commission to Hon. George Vickers as United States Sena- tor. Which was read the first time and referred to the Com- mittee on Federal Relations. |
