At 2.45 P. M., the Senators returned, and resumed the
usual legislative business.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

The further consideration of the bill on Corporations was
postponed at section 76.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

It was ordered, that when the Senate adjourns it stands
adjourned until to-morrow at 11 A. M.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to incorporate the Knickerbocker Life Insurance
Company of Baltimore.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill to compensate Dr. James Higgins for his report
upon the Agricultural and Mineral Resources of Maryland,
published by order of the last General Assembly, for general
circulation.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Dor-
chester and Somerset counties to report a bill to provide for
the appointment of a Commissioner of Slave Statistics for
Wicomico county, and also for an additional justice of the
peace in District No, 2 (Quantico) for said county.

On motion by Mr. Carroll,
The Usury bill, being the order of the day,

Was postponed, and made the order of the day for to-
morrow, at 1.30 P. M.

Mr. Grove moved to be excused from attendance on the
Select Committee on Tobacco Warehouses for a short time,
and that some Senator from Western Maryland be appointed
in his place,

Mr. Hammond called for a division of the question.
Which was sustained.

The question being upon excusing Mr. Grove,
It was determined in the affirmative.

And then on the appointing a Senator from Western Mary-
