1868.] OF THE SENATE. :^3

An Act to repeal the 18th section of the first Article of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany county," and
to re-enact the same with amendments.

An Act to repeal the 32d section of the 5th Article .of
the Public Local Laws, entitled " Calvert County," re-
lating to Justices of the Peace and Constables, and provide
for three additional Justices of the Peace for said county.

An Act to incorporate the Monrovia and Libertytown
Turnpike Road Company.

An Act to repeal sections 3, 9, 16, 17, and 87 of Article
73 of the Code of Public General Laws relating to the Mary-
land Penitentiary, and to substitute in lieu of sections 3, 9,
16, 17, 87 the following.

An Act to promote the efficiency of the Orphans' Court of
Baltimore county.

An Act to release to William Watson all the right and
interest of the State of Maryland, in and to the personal estate
of Michael M. Mitchell, late of Baltimore county, deceased.

An Act to repeal sections 4,5,6,7 and 8 of Article 20 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Talbot county, entitled
Almshouse, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

An Act to authorize the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Tal-
bot county to copy the General Index to Land Records in his
office from 1833 to 1868.

On motion by Mr. Hammond,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to provide for the completion of the Maryland and
Delaware Rail Road.

Mr. Smith, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Cecil Land and
Loan Company.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported un-
favorably

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller to
invest the balance of the unappropriated fund arising from
the sale of the land scrip, donated to this State by the United
States, for the benefit of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts.

And the report was adopted
Also, reported

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 3 of an Act
entitled an Act incorporating the Maryland Institute for the
