332 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 29, SATURDAY, February 29,1868. The Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hammond. Present at roll call : Messrs. Earle, Fields, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Kimmel, Miller, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh—14. Mr. Maddox presented the petition of Thomas Weekly and others, citizens of St. Mary's county, against dredging in said county. Which was referred to the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries. Messrs Lee, Carroll and Denson asked and obtained leave of absence. On motion by Mr, Snyder, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to introduce a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Executive Committee of Publication of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. The following Senate bills having passed both branches of the General Assembly were this day sent to His Excellency, the Governor, for his approval : An Act for the relief of Benjamin Frost, alias Waters. An Act to incorporate a company to construct a turnpike road from Hagerstown to Cearfoss' Cross Roads, in Wash- ington county. An Act to incorporate the Deer Park Turnpike Road Com- pany of Baltimore county. An Act to incorporate the Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Anne Arundel county. An Act to permit the citizens of Hooper's Island, Dorches- ter county, to shoot and take wild fowl from sink boats, blinds or otherwise for home consumption. An Act to alter and amend an Act to incorporate the Mu- tual Insurance Company of Allegany county, passed at December session, 1847, chapter 111, and the several sup- plements thereto, so as to convert the said company into a stock company, to be known as the Fire Insurance Company of Allegany county. |
